Everyone agrees on a broad level that small businesses are vital to the American economy. However, most people would be surprised to know just how important. The United States Small Business Administration keeps records and statistics on small business in the United States and some of their findings are surprising.

First, the typical perception of a small business as a mom and pop operation with just a few, if any, employees is not the entire picture. The Small Business Administration defines a small business as an independently business with less than 500 employees. There are an estimated 23 million businesses in the United States that meet that classification. In some smaller towns in the United States, these businesses represent a major source of employment.

In fact, small businesses as defined by the Small Business Administration represent 99.7 percent of all the employers in the country and employ half of all private sector employees. More than 45% of the private sector payroll is generated by small business. Over the last decade small businesses have accounted for 60 to 80% of all new jobs created on an annual basis.

Although a large percentage of small businesses are in the retail and service sectors, small businesses are rapidly making gains in the technology sector. 41% of high tech workers like engineers, scientists and computer programmers are employed by small businesses. Employees at small businesses produce 13 to 14 times more patents than those employed by larger companies.

The Small Business Administration also offers some interesting observations on small business survival. Two-thirds of small businesses survive for at least two years declining to 44% after four years. Most of the factors that support a small business surviving are well known, such as access to capital and owner’s education level. However, a lesser known factor in small business survival is that the business is large enough to have employees.

Similarly, barriers to starting a small business include lack of access to start-up capital and lack of education. However, the number one barrier to small business start up and a primary concern of existing small business owners is access to private health insurance. Individual health insurance for sole proprietors is much more expensive than receiving coverage through an employer. If a small business owner is able to offer health insurance to its employees, the administrative and premium costs are often much higher than those for larger businesses.

“Small businesses” is an economically term which generally related to the business scope and extent. The taxing authorities categorize “small business” according to their finance turnover in a defined time duration, in most cases: a year. Another aspect of specifying a business as a “small” one is its field of activity: a single barber shop, or a single “Pizza” parlor, or a single stand in a marketplace, are “small businesses”. When one of those becomes “a chain of…” it’s another story.

The behavioral sciences, especially Sociology, regard “small business” as a small organization. From the sociology point of view a business is a type of social organization. The sociology discipline classifies organizations by their internal human relations and interaction. No matter how many people are involved, what’s count is the quality of the inter-relationships among them. If everybody knows everybody, face to face, by each name, and the instrumental communication is informal as the social communication, then it’s a “small organization”.

Such informal relationships can function when we are talking about 2 to 100 workers, managers and subordinates all together. Probably when it’s a 100 people organization we’ll find formal division of labor, duties definitions and documented regulations. On the other hand – a 4 personnel store: the informality is extreme and there is no room for documentation and definitions, everyone is doing everything and if the boss, the store owner, will keep distance – he’ll lose the great advantage of potential warm instrumental relationships with his three salespersons.

Between the 4 and 100 personnel the most common are the 30-40 personnel small businesses. Even if the business owner will try to establish formal regulations he wouldn’t succeed. In such a small organization people will behave according to the informal habits which dominate the everyday activities. There is no way that a new employee will sit down and read a documented guidance book. What will probably happen is that he’ll be told orally what to do by a senior foreman and will complete his integration by imitating others in his close working environment. If he’ll insist to read written instructions he wouldn’t find it because it doesn’t exist in such small businesses and if he will – it wouldn’t be updated. This is the great fault of small organizations and yet their great advantage: it makes them much more flexible and adaptable to market real time changes.

The sociologist Max Weber claimed that the ideal desirable theoretical model of the most efficient organization is the ‘bureaucratic” model. Weber argued that this type of model will be the only social organization that will overcome human faults and weaknesses. His organization will leave much longer than the individuals who are working for it. People will have to adapt themselves to the organizational needs and demands and not the other way round. He wanted to fulfill the old cliché saying “The graveyards are packed with people who thought they were irreplaceable”.

Just for the sake of argumentation, I’ll point only two of the criticism on Weber’s model:

One – Bureaucratic organizations suffer of stagnation. When a “big business” wants to react to changes in its businesslike environment its got to be someone whose job is to detect such changes and to call a meeting of the right forum which is nominated in advance to take care of such cases and according to the firm regulations to make decisions which will be accomplished by those who will be appointed to the task. Such a procedure is taking a lot of time while small business are reacting immediately and move forward leaving the big businesses behind.

Two - The biggest enemy of the bureaucratic organization is the informal organization within the formal one. A lot of money, time and energy are wasted trying to overcome the influence of the informal organization. In small businesses, which are informal by nature, there is no such problem.

As a metaphor we can compare big and small businesses to a steam ship and a sailing boat. In the big steam liner, even if the crew members know each other personally, they operate a daily routine under strict regulations carried out by formally ranked officers and other commissioned lower ranked staff. If the weather will change and threat the ship safety, no one will react without a strict command issued by the captain. In the small numbered crew of a 40 feet sailboat there are no ranks or strictly defined jobs. Everybody is doing everything which is needed when it is needed to be done. There is a Skipper but in case of a sudden hazard you can carry on each sailor that he’ll do what’s necessary without waiting to be told what to do. In small teams, who are operating in a stressed environment, a small boat in the big blue sea or a small business in the jungle of the wild markets, crew members know that if they wouldn’t operate shoulder to shoulder they will be hanged neck to neck. The friendly commitment to each other is working for the benefit of the organization.

A online print shop is a classic example of a small business. It is organized by the following departments:

Management and administration (3)

Sales and marketing (3)

Accountants (2)

Customer service (3)

Graphic artists studio (5)

Printing machines operators (3)

Production and finish (7)

Shipping (2)

Business development and Internet support (2)

Those 30 workers are crowded in 100 square meters shop including machines and furniture.

The print shop is operating on line and off line.

On line, through the Internet, they offer the classical advertising and promoting printed materials like: Business cards, magnets, fliers, stamps, account books, envelopes, letterheads, invitations, stickers, bookmarks, and so on.

Off line, when the customer arrives in person and orders his request face to face. This is when the products are “heavy” like: books, catalogs, folders, small paper made packing materials, and such.

The small number of employees, operating under the right managers leadership, creates consolidation, unification, integration, and forging “team spirit” based on interpersonal relationship which creates an identification, involvement and empathy with the business goals. The lack of distance between managers, foremen and other employees do not harm discipline and high standards of working moral and ethics. Discussions, which are taking place from time to time, in open forums, enable all workers criticize constructively or suggesting improvements. Workers can express themselves freely in periodical interviews and all channels of communication, including internal E-mailing, are open unlimited. The closeness relationships enable flexible positioning workers in different stations according to various burdens. The outcomes of 30 workers is synergistic by nature and much more than just aggregative.

Over the past decade more and more people are getting fired, getting downsized, or getting fed up with their corporate jobs and embark on the journey as a small business owner. Unfortunately, most of the new small business owners fail to consider their marketing plans or strategy. There are many marketing concepts for small business marketing to consider and plan for, but here is our list of Top 10 Marketing Concepts For Small Business Marketing.

Marketing Concept # 1: Consistency

Consistency is the number one marketing concept for small business marketing only because it is left out of marketing concepts for so many businesses. I have worked with a long list of clients, big and small, that are extremely inconsistent in all areas of their marketing. Consistency helps lower the cost of marketing and increase the effectiveness of branding.

Marketing Concept # 2: Planning

Once small business owners decide to be consistent with their marketing, planning is the next major concept to engage. Planning is the most vital part of small business marketing or any level of marketing, for that matter, and so many owners, marketing managers, and even CMOs plan poorly. Put the time into planning your marketing strategy, budget, and other concepts presented here to ensure success.

Marketing Concept # 3: Strategy

Strategy immediately follows planning because your strategy is the foundation for the rest of your marketing activities. In the process of planning, you must develop your strategy: who you will target, how you will target them, and how will you keep them as a customer.

Marketing Concept # 4: Target Market

Target market is also another key concept for small business marketing. Defining exactly who you are targeting allows small business owners to focus on specific customers and reduce marketing waste. A well-defined target market will make every other marketing concept so much easier to implement successfully.

Marketing Concept # 5: Budget

Although it is listed at number 5, budgeting is important throughout the entire process. Creating a marketing budget is usually the hardest and most inaccurate part of small business marketing. Most small businesses owners lack a great deal of experience in marketing, so their budgets usually end up skewed. The most important part of this marketing concept is to actually establish a marketing budget. From there, you can worry about how to distribute your available funds.

Marketing Concept # 6: Marketing Mix

The marketing mix is usually defined as product, pricing, place, and promotion. As a small business owner, you must specifically decide on your products (or services), the appropriate pricing, where and how you will distribute your products, and how will you let everyone know about you and your products.

Marketing Concept # 7: Website

In today’s market, a business of any size must have a website. I hate when I see businesses that have a one page website with out-dated information. Customers, be it businesses or consumers, will search the web over 60% of the time before making any purchasing decisions. This marketing concept contains a slew of additional components, but you must at least develop a small web presence of some kind and keep it updated.

Marketing Concept # 8: Branding

Many small businesses owners also neglect this concept. Small business marketing must focus on this marketing concept just as much as large corporations do. Branding consists of the pictures, logo, design scheme, layout, make up, and image of your products and even your company. Branding is how your customers perceive (please place a lot of emphasis on that word!) your products and company. Make sure to pay special attention to what kind of brand you are building through each step of your planning and implementation.

Marketing Concept # 9: Promotion and Advertising

Promotion and advertising is a very complex marketing concept, but must be considered for any type of business and its products and services. Once you engage the previous 8 marketing concepts, you must finally let your target market know about you and your products. Proper promotion and advertising will result in effective brand recognition, and, ultimately, increased sales.

Marketing Concept # 10: Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

The concept of customer relationship management has become a huge industry in the marketing world. There are many types of software and services offered to help businesses of any size handle their customer relationship management. Since there is so much available, usually for a large sum of money, small business owners usually look at this concept as something they are not big enough for or have enough money to implement. Don’t be fooled by the massive industry that has evolved from this concept. Maintaining proper customer relationship management is essential to creating loyal and consistent customers.

This list of marketing concepts should be examined, researched, planned, and implemented, especially by small businesses, in order to be successful. Also, your marketing doesn’t stop here. Each business is unique and will have additional components that must be considered, but this list will jump-start any marketing plan.

Small businesses complicate their efforts in trying to uncover international business opportunities. Their own personal actions have far more impact on their success than relying on translators and looking for foreign joint venture partners.

The small actions you can take at home will have more immediate impact on your international business development than the services you can buy. Why is this? The more interaction you have in learning more about your foreign markets, the more you will be able to equate your acquired market knowledge with the products and services you sell.

Yes, you will probably end up needing the services from your target market. But the knowledge you can acquire from the countries where you would like to grow your business is priceless.

Sure translations are important. Adapting your sales materials to for a perfect cultural fit is important. But if you can start off from where you are, with what you have, you will learn a lot more in the process and you will make a better choice when seeking to get those foreign services.

Actions: If you already have some international clients or prospects:

Develop those contacts further, so that you can learn more about those clients. – Call them up.
Find the appropriate person to speak with.
Talk to him.
Ask him if he liked your products and why.
Ask how he finds your products different to what he can buy locally.
Ask him if he knows anyone else locally who could benefit from your product.

Actions: If you do not already have international clients and don’t know where to start:

Which market do you think your product might sell well in?
Or is there an international market that really attracts you?
Choose a country and start researching.
Google your competition in that country.
Use Google Advance Search to set the country.
Use automatic website translation software to read online.
Get a feel for the market.
Then pick up your phone, call your embassy in that country.
Are there any other associations in that country for professionals from your country living there?
Get on the phone and start talking to people.
If you feel you are not getting anywhere, change your conversation style.
Ask different questions.

You need to know as much as possible about each specific foreign market. Start off slowly, one country at a time. Make a concentrated effort to understand everyone’s opinion. You will begin to see a path to take.

Next Step

Once you have a basic understanding of your foreign market. Create a localized website, in your target country. Start with a mirror image of your main website.

You will need to adapt your communication to local cultures. Ask for local market feedback. Depending on your target market you may be able to do this in your own language.

You may want to set up a landing page with a survey for locals in their own language. It would probably be a mistake to translate your entire main website before getting feedback from your target market. Keep any translations to a minimum in the first stage.

Think of the actions you can take to build relationships with these foreign clients. Do not be afraid of language barriers. Simply present yourself truthfully and show your eagerness to learn how to do business in their culture.

When people see your willingness to meet them on their territory, they will notice you. The more action you take, the more you will be visible and the faster you will open your new international markets.

Managers and owners of small businesses are always on the lookout for methods to help to improve their business. One way to do this that is very popular with small business owners is to implement a small business management software solution. These are web based applications which enable anyone within the business to sign in and work remotely from anywhere in the world. However this is just one of the reasons why a small business management software solution is perfect for a small business. So why does your business need a small business management software application?

• This will save you and your employees a great deal of time each working day. With only one application in use there is no need to be constantly switching between applications to complete on task.

• Integrated calendars will help business owners and managers to see what staffs are doing with ease.

• Project planning is made simple with small business management software – just create a project and assign it to a member of staff. Then track its progress by simply clicking into that project, no more chasing employees up to see where they are with a project.

• Quoting and invoicing is made much more straightforward by creating both through one application. This means that sales leads can be followed up with ease by simply checking which quotes have been created and not followed up. When a quote is then accepted it can simply be changed into an invoice which means even more time is saved.

• Document storage, which can sometimes be an issue for small businesses, can be streamlined with small business management software. Now as soon as a document has been created it can be saved directly onto the application, it can then be accessed by any employee with the correct level of access. So no more waiting for documents to be emailed from employee to employee, by saving them all on one application they can be retrieved quickly and easily. In addition to this small business management software can help a business wave goodbye to missing documents, something that everyone will welcome.

• Small businesses with up to 50 employees can use small business management software, which means that you don’t have to be a tiny company to benefit from it.

• Any business that has off site employees that need to fill in timesheets can use small business management software to track employees working hours. Off site employees can log into the application, fill in their timesheet and managers or owners can use this information to work out wages. When this is compared with the time it can take to chase up time sheets from various employees it is clear to see why this type of software is so useful.

As you can see there are numerous reasons why small businesses need small business management software. It can cut down the time spent on tasks drastically; this is easy to access and has business wide functionality. It is the practical and simplistic way.

Everyone today wants their business to reach its peak and stay there. But always there are problems in the business that you can’t solve on your own. Some things laymen won’t understand only masters from Yale or Harvard do. So in that case one would need to employee a CFO forthe business . This can be really an added expense as the salaries for CFO’s reach the skies. Small scales businesses can’t afford an MBA with 15 years of experience. An easy solution is CFO for hire.

The Chartered Financial Officer handles all aspects of a business related to finance. He not only takes care of the current business but implements strategies and policies to tackle every conditionthe business would meet in the future. The CFO in other words is the brain of the business. Every decision taken, is taken by him after due consideration on the pro’s and con’s. CFO for hire would give you the services of a CFO on an hourly basis or a weekly basis depending on your requirements. This way you cannot only get the services of a CFO you don’t have to pay as much as you would have to for it.

The reasons why you would need a CFO are far too many to count but to name a few you would require a CFO to predict the cycle your business to running in, analyzing and projecting your business and cash flow needs, telling you how much cash you should keep in hand and how much to invest and where, work aggressively to reduce cost expense and sorting out for tax and other issue’s. They would review the financial statements and check what actions need to be taken, help in the process of hiring and firing employees. They would closely monitorthe business and make recommendations to improve it. The models used in financial planning are often so complex that no one except the experts understand them, CFO’s use them forthe business giving it the professional touch you business would lack.

The small and medium scale enterprises are normally working on very tight margins and to employ a CFO would ruin them. CFO for Hire would be an option where they can avail professional counseling and that too with very little expense.

Caution must be maintained however on whom you hire since you don’t want anyone but the best for your business. You should conduct rounds of interviews, get necessary reference checks, conduct pre employment checks and then hire the suitable candidate. The tests range from ability tests, behavior tests, character tests to productivity tests.

There are plenty of agencies that offer the services of CFO for hire and help you make the right decision for your business needs.

Four years ago if you were to ask me how to improve a business, I’d tell you what the heck? You know, I’d have no idea on how someone can bring his business to attract breakthrough profits like it has never made before.

But then I learned about copywriting.

I know – you may be tired with the term or don’t want to be related to it, but give me a minute here. And I’ll explain why your thoughts are about to change.

The reason why copywriting is valuable is because of how it manipulates language and turn messages into something persuasive to the prospect customer.

When something persuades your prospects or customers to buy your products or services, isn’t it a favor for you?

Because of how persuasive a sales message can be as a result of good copywriting, you get to increase sales & profits and sell more of your products or services.

The problem is, copywriting isn’t easy. Especially if you know nothing about the art of pushing your prospects and customers’ desire hot-buttons the right way and make them buy.

There are people who do it overboard. That’s where hype comes in. And there are people who tries to do it, but fail. That’s where unresponsive sales copy come into the picture.

But I’ll give ya a secret nonetheless.

Everyone can become a master at copywriting.

There, the big secret is out. Everyone. And by that, I mean YOU too.

The only question is, why do you need to spend all the hours and hours of practice, unproductive effort and pain of going through tons and tons of wrong attempts plus FAILURES just because…

You have a hope to make the kind of profits you’d never imagine you can make in a lifetime?

You get all my ramblings?

What I mean is, yes you can try to be all you can be as a good copywriter. But there’s no reason why you should if you’re a business owner who cares more about your sales and profits and you can grow your business many times over – as you sacrifice your time in unproductive attempts like trying to be excellent at copywriting.

Instead, you can save that effort.

Use it in more productive activities like planning ahead of your business, brainstorming better steps to improve its growth, think about how you can allocate your time to create the most valuable returns…

Save the opportunity cost from writing a less than persuasive sales copy… lose more customers in the attempt of it… or go through a series of stress because you couldn’t understand how to fit all the right ways to craft a devilish copy.

And let someone lethal enough with his craft… to do your bidding.

Someone who can write a sales copy so persuasive, it can give you all you ever wanted in life. Fulfill your desires, realize your dreams or bring you greater happiness with the people you love – your pick.

Talking about your “business structure” means, essentially, what legal organization your enterprise is going to take. There are three general types, and details about what constitutes what may change from state to state, but in the main you will choose to be a sole proprietorship, a partnership or some form of corporation. There are pros and cons to each, which we shall investigate.

Kind of businesses

When starting a small business one must decide if they wish to incorporate, set up shop with a partner (or a few) or do business as a sole proprietor. Some of the advantages of sole ownership are that the accounting is simpler, there are fewer filing requirements, there are no corporate taxes and you answer only to yourself in terms of management authority. These are compelling advantages, and this structure works for many “professional service” businesses (architect, writer, insurance agent, etc.).

However, the disadvantages of sole ownership are serious and can affect your ability to grow in the future. You will find that it is often harder to raise capital, and financing can be difficult to obtain from banks. Also, as to sole ownership, you are liable for all debts incurred by the business and if sued you could lose your home and any other assets, whether or not they are legally “tied” to the business.

Partnership structures

Partnerships, often called “general partnerships,” add a few dimensions to the proprietor structure. Of major importance is that you can spread the liability among the partners, therefore dampening the blow of losses, lost lawsuits and/or dissolution ofthe business. The partnership structure also enables you to bring in additional expertise to the business, and can give you flexibility in remuneration for the partners.

Partnerships, since they are formed by individuals, are taxed in the same manner as sole proprietorships. This means that each partner adds his or her business income to a personal income tax return. Of course, each partner can also deduct business losses (pro rated). Depending on your tax planning and business strategy, this can be either good or bad for your goals. However, there are some disadvantages to a partnership, such as differing visions forthe business, an unequal commitment in time or resources and the fact that each partner may be liable for the decisions, debts and actions of other partners.

There will certainly be disagreements over management style, growth plans, operations and future goals for the business. You must learn to deal with these without souring a working relationship. You may or may not do well going into business with family. Finally, you may encounter difficulty in attracting investors, since a partnership is much closer to being a proprietorship than a corporation.

The corporate option

If our fictional partners in the foregoing example decide to incorporate, they won’t have fewer people to answer to, but more. They will have shareholders or investors inthe business , people who will help them get started but may also be there second-guessing from the sidelines. These individuals will provide the capital necessary to get the ball rolling, but if this is your situation, you must consider what ongoing role they will play.

With corporations the burden of any liability is not solely resting on the shoulders of one person as with a sole proprietorship, or even several, as with a partnership. You can limit your liability in other ways than incorporating, although that is a major benefit. In fact, there is one business structure called a Limited Liability Corporation, a partnership with the additional feature of corporate-style limited liability.

The IRS also recognizes what is called a “Subchapter S” corporation (or “S Corporation”), available as a structure for most companies with 75 or fewer shareholders. This form of organization allows the company some of the corporate benefits, particularly limited liability and financing options, while taxing it as a partnership.

A regular corporation, of course, is the ultimate form of legal organization for business today. However, it does take some expertise to set up and run, and is not appropriate for everyone. If you do not know how your own business would fare under another structure, you should speak with a knowledgeable business consultant, financial planner and/or attorney. It is not a decision you should make on a snap basis.

Bottom line

Whichever legal structure you decide on is almost at the level of a moot point if there is no business plan – and you can’t develop a plan unless you know what it is you are going to market, where and what your target market is, what your costs are and so forth. Do the research. You may have a great idea but if no one is interested in using your product then you have no business.

The final step before deciding on a legal structure is doing a business plan that extends out at least five years. You have to consider where you may be down the line, and be prepared to make quick moves in the future depending on changing market conditions and other factors. In today’s volatile economy, you must be more vigilant than ever, and no business decision is a simple or easy one anymore. Get some good advice from people and institutions you trust.

Finally, be prepared to ask yourself some hard questions before embarking upon a new enterprise or taking your existing one to the next level. If you cannot be brutally honest with yourself about your product, marketing, sales efforts and the rest, then you will doom yourself from the start. Be honest, be careful, be wise and always – always – have contingency plans ready for those “what if” moments that just might come true. We are seeing a lot of that these days!

Most of us do start our businesses, but we don’t pay attention to some things that are very critical for its efficient functioning.

Talking about mistakes there could be a lot of them, but there are a few that are like pillars to the temple of mistakes. You just can’t keep making them and still expect to be in business forever. Here is a short take on a few of those terrible mistakes people do.

1. Not Giving Customer Service its due: Now let’s get one thing straight, it is not just those big companies that are into some kind of service that need customer support representatives and elaborate set ups for all that they do to keep customers happy.

Every business needs to give primary importance to customer service. Your competitors render the same product/service anyway, so the extent would go to keep your patrons happy is what would set you apart from them. The Mistake? Business owners don’t give a damn.

2. Not Using Technology: Not having a website, not using email marketing, not leveraging technology is one of the biggest blunders an entrepreneur can make. If you haven’t started selling your products online and have not used e-commerce yet, you are going to be left far behind.

3. Playing the Game on Price Alone: If your only retort to a competitor’s big move to take your customer away from you had been to reduce your own prices, you have been playing it wrong all the time.

It is not price that you should be fiddling with, it is the apparent value that your product or service provides that you should be working on. Does it provide value? Does it solve your prospect’s problem? And does a good job on that? Answer them and act on them. Terrible mistake this one.

4. Thinking of Marketing as something only big companies do: Marketing is something every business – big and small ought to do. It is not something you should be doing when you have excess money or when you felt that you just forgot to put in some flyers like your friend Jai – the barber, did. Good Marketing brings you customers and they in turn bring you money. What else were you putting your money on?

5. Doing Business like everyone else: If you were to just look around the streets, you would see all kinds of businesses and then you would realize that they do business like they would do a job.

Not giving a damn about all those basics that need to have been given importance to. Business is fun and exciting. A day can never be the same, how do you expect to run like one of those mundane and repetitive jobs. In a nutshell, be innovative. Be unique and do it your way.

The success in offshoring Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services operations with respect to reducing costs and often improving quality has encouraged many firms to start offshoring their high-end knowledge work as well. Their underlying expectation is that offshoring high-end processes will result in additional cost savings and operational efficiencies, coupled with access to very good talent in the low-wage offshore countries. In this paper, we will refer to thisoffshoring of higher-end services as Knowledge Process Offshoring (KPO).

This paper analyzes the evolving KPO market, the opportunities it offers, the associated challenges, and the key drivers associated with the move from BPO to KPO.

According to our estimate, the KPO market is expected to grow from USD 1.2 billion in FY (Financial Year) 2003 to USD 16 billion in FY 2010. The sectors that are expected to ’shine’ within the KPO industry include data search, integration and management services, financial and insurance research, biotech and pharmaceutical research and computer-aided simulation and engineering design.

In terms of challenges, this paper analyzes the impact of key parameters such as quality, precision, confidentiality and project management expertise in the KPO industry. This paper also forecasts the number of professionals that are likely to be employed by this industry and we also present some important drivers behind the movement from BPO to KPO.

Finally, this paper attempts to compare countries (such as China, India, the Philippines, Ireland, Israel and Russia) that can provide KPO services with respect to labor costs, geographic location, demographic factors and other miscellaneous factors. The paper also discusses the future outlook of the globaloffshoring industry.

* Free you’re Resources and Work on Your Strategy – An important aspect of business process outsourcing is its ability to free corporate executives from some of their day-to-day process management responsibilities. Traditionally, executives spend 80 percent of their time managing details, and only 20 percent on strategy. Once a process is successfully outsourced, the ratio can be reversed.

* Improve Processes – Save Money – Companies that outsource business processes are often able to reengineer those processes and capture new efficiencies. Then they can reallocate resources to other important projects and leverage their investment in technology. For example, processes that are handled in a shared production environment for multiple companies save everyone money. In most cases, high-caliber subject-matter experts are brought in to design and manage these processes, bringing with them best practices, innovation, and years of experience that most companies don’t have access to or can’t afford on their own.

* Increase Your Capabilities – Companies that want to grow internationally must continuously invest in infrastructure and find talent around the world. Many outsourcing providers are already established globally and can help make the growth process run smoothly.
